Systematically Improving RAG Applications

This was a great course on RAG, and a lot of learnings around the topic. I particularly enjoyed the sections on synthetic data generation (which was new to me) and how to evaluate retrieval. Oh, and the guest lectures were really good as well!

Systematically Improving RAG Applications

There is a ton ready-to-use material that it has helped me directly in my work. It covers many common use cases in many industries such as document processing, different RAG methodologies, fine-tuning embedding or synthetic data generation. Jason is also very knowledgeable and approachable person that can solve doubts via office hours or via cohort group chat.

Systematically Improving RAG Applications

I wasn’t new to RAG when I joined Jason’s Systematically Improving RAG course. I had already built a couple of systems — including one with multi-agent tabular data — and had discovered Jason through his exceptional technical blog, where he shares deep, practical insights about RAG and AI engineering. Amid all the noise around AI, Jason’s content is a breath of fresh air. When I enrolled, I expected a more structured way to explore Jason’s approach to RAG. What I got was far more than that. The course is meticulously designed, the materials are invaluable, and Jason turns what is often an empirical process into a series of well-designed experiments with clear metrics — creating a RAG flywheel that continually improves your system. The invited guests are top-notch and perfectly curated, and I discovered several tools I can’t wait to add to my toolkit. But what truly makes the course stand out are the office hours — seeing Jason and others tackle real-world problems, discussing solutions live, and being able to ask anything. The community is also outstanding: engaged, experienced, and generous with insights. Jason is always ahead of the curve, and throughout the course it became clear that we’re transitioning toward agentic systems rather than pure RAG. He gave insights on his methodologies for tackling this shift that I now use every day. I’d recommend this course to anyone serious about building or improving AI agentic systems.
